Where to practise yoga in and near Mont-Tremblant

Yoga has undergone a resilient transformation during the many healthrelated interruptions that had practitioners turning to online yoga, private groups and outdoor sessions. Following the definitive closure of the Karma Shala Yoga studio last June, many people have wondered where to continue their practice. Here’s an overview of many places where yoga is coming back to life in the greater Mont-Tremblant area.

Yoga for all ages

Yoga is for everyone. A good teacher knows how to adapt the postures to each individual. Seniors will be happy to learn that there’s chair yoga at the Club des Bons Vivants (FADOQ) with Dominique Leclerc, and at the Labelle community hall with Christine Laverdure. The little ones can be joyfully initiated with Magali Le Brech – a specialist in prenatal yoga, children’s yoga and the yoga of laughter – who leads parentchild yoga workshops at Mont-Tremblant’s Complexe aquatique.

Community yoga

Municipalities play an important role in the health of their citizens by integrating reasonably-priced yoga into their recreation programs. You’ll find Carol Desjardins at the Brébeuf community centre, Geneviève Boisvert at the municipality of Mont-Blanc and Valérie Daigle at Mont-Tremblant’s Complexe aquatique. In keeping with yogic philosophy, Angi Bloom has chosen to participate by organizing “Nordic Yoga Walks” during which funds are raised for the Palliacco organization.

Yoga in natural surroundings

The Domaine Saint-Bernard and Mont- Tremblant National Park are two of Jessica Humphries’ favourite destinations for holding her ÉnerJ-Santé Optimale outdoor yoga sessions. For mountain lovers, Ève Brasseur, of Excursion Yoga, organizes forest hikes with yoga sessions at the summit.

Event yoga

Yoga practitioners who want to deepen their practices can turn to seasoned practitioners. In Lac-Supérieur, Mélisande Turpin leads events in English on specific themes: inversions, sequences, cocoa and cold bath, etc. At Domaine Saint-Bernard, every year, Juna Académie certifies new yoga teachers with a 200-hour bilingual program. Its founder Nadia Bonenfant also organizes retreats specifically designed to accompany women in their personal development.

Yoga for athletes

At Gym 117, one room is dedicated to disciplines related to well-being such as yoga, Pilates and lunar circles. At Tri Connexion’s MC2, yoga rounds out the services provided to triathletes, along with massage therapy and ice baths. In Val- David, Cardio Loft offers a range of training specialties including hot yoga and yin yoga. In Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, the AirSup Acroyoga hosts acrobats who like aerial yoga and acroyoga.

A multitude of possibilities

Our research identified numerous other places in the Laurentians dedicated to yoga: Danse Tremblant, Yoga Louna, Centre des Tournesols, Arundel Legion, Le Shed Studio, the Milvä boutique, Café Farouche, Kinder pre-school, elementary schools, and more. There are also several private courses, online courses and yoga in businesses. So many possibilities. The choice is yours!
