Working out anytime

A one-hour workout is about four per cent of your day and you can do it at any time. Mont-Tremblant’s Anytime Fitness is a pleasing 24/7, no-frills experience. They’ve cut back on the unnecessary to deliver a superior product at a reasonable price. Don’t expect towel service or a juice bar; do expect a modern and clean facility.

Members have secure access – including during unstaffed hours – through use of a computerized key fob. Each location has a security system of cameras, recorded card swipes, and the ability to notify a security company if a member is injured or feels unsafe. After thirty days, members can visit any of the 5,000 locations.

While staffing is kept to a minimum, you would never know that given how well the facilities are maintained. Cleanliness is of paramount importance to the chain. The Mont-Tremblant location offers individual change and shower rooms that are modern and well designed. The workout areas are bright and open. Music plays at a pleasing level while televisions broadcast inspiring and entertaining fitness videos.

Anytime Fitness requires each franchisee to redo the space and replace all equipment every three years. The range of quality equipment is impressive. While working out at the Mont-Tremblant location, I’ve never waited for any piece of equipment. Members treat the place like they are owners. People are diligent in wiping down equipment and returning it properly. Members must have a dedicated pair of sneakers for inside and leave street shoes at the door.

At Anytime Fitness, the environment is highly courteous, without the aggressive body-building culture that characterizes many chains. This is a private club experience at a reasonable cost but it’s up to you to bring motivation and commitment. As comedian Dave Attell observed, “If you’re using two-pound weights, how did you even open the door?”
