Celebrating fall on the run

Just over 100 runners took part in the first runnning of the Salomon Tremblant Classic in 2014. Almost a decade later, the event has locked its registration capacity at 1,275 and expects a sell-out crowd on October 21.

Choose your challenge

Starting from Place Saint-Bernard atop the pedestrian village at Tremblant Resort, it is one of the toughest challenges of its kind in Québec. That said, there is a distance for every level of runner.

The 1K is for youngsters aged 12 and under. The 3K and 5K are challenging yet doable for the average trail runner. The event’s signature 10K remains the most popular distance, which co-race-director Patrick Lussier promises, “will be less muddy this year.”

The 20K is for the expert runner eager to test limits. With more than 1,500 metres of climbing, the 30K is the ultimate test.

As trail running continues to increase in popularity, Patrick expects every distance to be sold out. He encourages would-be participants to log on and register.

Nothing but footprints

A flagship race in the Laurentians, the event has trails that are permanently marked. Patrick expresses pride in the running community saying, “they have made an effort to learn the trails ahead of time. To share information and pay attention to the trail markers on race day.”

With the goal of leaving nothing but footprints, the event will host aid stations but requires all runners to bring their own hydration bottle or bag to refill. No cups will be available on the course. Patrick notes that the event generated less than 2KG of garbage last year – including the marking tape.

Whether you have a passion for trail running, or you’re just beginning, Tremblant invites you to test your best against the mountain this autumn.
