Brighten up your surroundings and banish the dreariness

We know it all too well. After the brilliant show of colours of early fall comes the dreariness of late autumn.

Now‘s our chance to turn up the comfort quotient in our surroundings and create a warm, cosy atmosphere, because that’s fall, as well… the soft, enticing ambience of the first fireplace fires, soups, slow-cooked stews and happy times spent reading, tucked into our favourite blankets.

With or without the help of professionals, create your own atmosphere. Celebrate the harvest season and decorate your residence with elements evocative of the abundance of this poetic time of year.

The Laurentians have everything you need to create a country vibe that will give your home a spectacular and even sophisticated look.

A good starting place could be your front door, where you can attract happy glances with a seasonal wreath. Make sure to plan the right size, and then be inspired by seasonal bounty as you start to build it. Dried stems and vines, autumn leaves, pine cones, small gourds, little pumpkins…

Transform your existing curb appeal elements into a colourful autumn show. Put bales of straw onto your flowerbeds; those familiar country basics are often front and centre in fall’s rustic décor. Add in gourds, pumpkins, seasonal flowers, chrysanthemums…

Take another look at your porch and balcony decor and even your summer flowerpot plantings, and transform them into a collage of seasonal colours. Use your hydrangea blossoms; cut their stems and place them in your pots to give them a new look. Use the stems of your favourite grasses to fill out your arrangements. Get some beautiful jute ribbons to add a delicate touch. And then, perhaps, add a string or two of lights to give them nighttime magic.

Give rein to your creativity. In terms of décor, there’s something for every taste, style and budget.
