A few years ago, Édith and Didier left their respective careers to bring sense back to their lives. After having grown mushrooms, they acquired a 600-acre farm on Chemin Paquette in Mont- Tremblant. The old building has been fully renovated to accommodate processing facilities: chai, mushroom cultivation and a culinary laboratory. A refined, natural décor greets visitors in the store, where it’s a pleasure to stock up with local products. Outside, a charming landscape allows visitors to take a country walk in the world of agriculture.

On first encounter, the owners of Maison de Soma share their vision with enthusiasm. Each employee works to create this polycultural dream which is transforming the land into a peaceful haven in which to live. The gardening team cultivates a hectare-sized field with two greenhouses, whicle another team takes care of the hives, planting an orchard and future pastures. Further on, visitors see sheep, fruit bushes, apple trees and fine alcohol products created on-site.

“By selling value-added products, we work to achieve our intention, which is to provide competitive salaries to agriculral workers who labour with passion at this noble activity,” explains Didier Lortie, who graduated in graphic design and agronomics.

Starting in July 2023, the Maison de Soma will host visitors in a picnic format where the daily menu is inspired by the freshest crops. The kitchen chef in residence, Émile Thibault, will have a sophisticated, upscale menu for the farm table which will open this fall.
