Outside our comfort zone

Today I took a long walk with an old friend. We chatted, we laughed, we walked side by side and we worked up a sweat. As we took in the fresh crisp air and sunshine, I pointed out a few spots where spring was trying to push through the snow.

Through the simple connection of Facetime, we were socializing, and at the same time social distancing. We were thousands of kilometers apart, yet we were together taking a walk.

As we work to navigate our new reality, we are all outside our comfort zone. Daily schedules have been upended. What was once structured has become unstructured. A long walk and a chat with an old friend brings comfort to being outside our comfort zone.

Create healthy habits

While life as we know it is on hold, it is the ideal time to begin to make new healthy habits. An easy way to get started? Call up an old friend, and take a walk.

It’s more important now than ever before. Make a commitment to yourself to incorporate exercise and movement into every day. Your body will thank you, as will your brain.

Let health be contagious

Let’s remember, it’s not just a virus that is contagious. Healthy habits are contagious. Laughter is contagious. Friendship is contagious. Positivity is contagious. Fitness is contagious.

Self-isolation and social distancing. Just the words alone can generate fear and create stress.  But instead of letting words scare us, take this opportunity to turn self-isolation into self-care. Turn social–distancing into socializing by calling a friend.

We are blessed with wide open spaces in Tremblant. Take a walk, or run the open back roads. Take your phone, and take a friend along for the adventure.

COVID-19 is contagious. But, the good feeling from a long walk with a good friend on the other end of the phone is also contagious.
