Destination 2030: the Ville reveals its strategic plan

Julie Godard, Général Director, Ville de Mont-Tremblant.

On Wednesday, April 24, at city hall, the Ville de Mont-Tremblant presented its strategic plan for 2019 – 2023. Five major orientations, or directional trends, each with its own objectives and intervention priorities, will pave the way for actions that the municipality will undertake over the next five years.

The Ville started to develop this new strategic plan in 2017. The orientations which emerged are the result of public consultations under the theme, “Together, let’s dream Mont-Tremblant” (Ensemble, rêvons Mont-Tremblant)

Five major orientations

The first of these orientations will aim to provide a diversified, competitive economy that will create good quality jobs. The first objective of this thrust will be to “consolidate the local economy by banking on the distinctive attributes of this area and the businesses already in place.”

The development of Le Village pole (or hub), and the establishment of a project to provide shape and generate economic growth in the downtown area will be major aspects of this objective’s intervention priorities.

The second orientation will work to further the attraction and retention of young people, families and seniors and to encourage a healthy, active lifestyle.

The development of cultural and associative policies, the development of the Public Space in the downtown area and the diversification of housing stock are within the intervention priorities supporting the objectives of this orientation.

The third orientation will work towards a mobilized team that provides good quality services and ensures successful evolution of the organization.

Preservation and enhancement of the natural environment

The fourth orientation will seek to preserve and enhance the natural environment and its characteristics.

It will mean consolidation of the partnership with the Domaine Saint-Bernard and Mont-Tremblant National Park, preservation of the built heritage of the Ville, following through with and measuring the efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, maintaining a harmonious development of the lakes, rivers, visual corridors and natural heritage, and lastly, providing a network of four-season trails having every level of difficulty and accessible to a diversified clientele.

Finally, the fifth orientation will endeavour to create participation of citizens and residents. We learn, among other things, that ways of consulting with the citizens and residents will be favoured and that a budget supporting participation will be established.
