New destination for mountain biking: Mont Blanc

A wind of change is blowing at Mont Blanc, which is now positioning itself as a two-season resort. Well known for its relaxed skiing atmosphere, Mont Blanc is announcing an exciting summer program: beach, water games, wakeboarding, upbeat terrace, rodeo and mountain biking.

Super trails

The mountain bike park called MbPark has been open to the public since the beginning of summer 2023 — except for during a few technical and meteorological interruptions. This all-new cyclable terrain has 7.5 km of downhill trails, to which new trails will be added in the future. There is also a pump track located close to MbPark zone, where athletes can warm up and practise a variety of maneuvers prior to heading into the forest.

What distinguishes MbPark from the rest of what’s available around here is its emphasis on downhill mountain biking. The Faustin slope mechanical lift brings cyclists and their steeds to the top of the mountain, from which they can launch themselves onto one of the five marked trails. As a result, fans can rack up several runs in the same day and experience some intense emotions. Sculpted by the firms Gravity Logic and Today’s parks, these downhill trails are classed at four levels: beginner, intermediate, expert and double diamond.

Mountain biking enthusiast Maxime Godard has tested a few runs and confirms that there’s something for every taste: “The Mont Blanc trails are well built, with nice berms and good jumps for intermediates and the more advanced. There’s a fine variety of turns, roots and rock slabs.”

A welcoming site

The friendly spirit of Mont Blanc is well represented by reasonable prices and attractive season passes. A day ticket to MbPark costs around $30, while a season pass is close to $200. For the 12-and-under set, prices are lower to encourage the youngsters to get into this sport.

Another point in favour of this sports destination: the reception zone with beach, restaurant and terrace. Families and groups of friends could spend an excellent summer day here, whether they love mountain biking or not. The Witbit water games – installed on Lac Adrénaline – will be fun for young and old on hot days.

Ongoing improvements

MbPark is in its first season of operation and hopes to have every visitor enjoy a memorable experience. A climbing trail is anticipated, which will please “enduro”-type cyclists who like to pedal to the top. Note, too, that the mountain biking park will be open till October, and that a bicycle rental and repair service is available on the site.

The whole Mont Blanc team would like to thank mountain bike enthusiasts for keeping to the marked trails and for paying their access fees before their activity, so that they contribute to the maintenance of this amazing playground.
