Fête de la Musique: a superb 20th edition
Nearly 45,000 spectators converged on Tremblant during the long Labor Day weekend to take part in the 20th edition of Tremblant’s Music Festival. Carefully chosen by Angèle Dubeau, artistic director of the event and internationally renowned violinist, the diverse program of this great musical festival has highlighted the great musicians of Canada including Quartango group, crooner Colin Hunter and Philippe Sly, who showcased Schubert’s ultimate masterpiece, Winterreise.
Saturday, the concert of Lorraine Desmarais and his Big Band has transported the crowd to the four corners of the world to the rhythm of his latest album Danses, Danzas, Dances. Édith Butler offered an intimate and warm performance to the Quebecor Public Piano. It was then the turn of Tambouyés and Boogàt to raise the crowd. Late in the afternoon, Lorraine Klaasen paid a very moving tribute to Nelson Mandela in front of an enchanted crowd.
Finally, at sunset, Angèle Dubeau surrounded herself with the ensemble La Pietà, as well as Lorraine Desmarais and Robert Charlebois. A concert full of exceptional moments.
On Sunday, The Lost Fingers and King Abid preceded the OSM and Kent Nagano. This grand concerta offered a fantastic trip in an atmosphere of the Thousand and One Nights to the spectators. A magical moment that will remain engraved in the history of the event!
