My way of thanking my village” – Peter Duncan

It’s been five years now since we started offering this very special issue which is integral to the series, “The forgotten”. In it you’ll find all of this year’s accounts by Peter Duncan – plus, of course, the story for the month of December of last year – as well as a brand-new piece written specially for this November issue.

Many of you truly appreciate Peter’s stories. Not a week goes by that someone doesn’t speak to me about them. As a result, it is with great pleasure that we devote this issue to him every year. When Peter asks me if I liked his most recent article, he rarely gives me time to respond as he rushes passionately to reveal his next subject. Surprisingly, Peter never lacks an idea and the columns – each more fascinating than the others – succeed each other month after month. This month, on the threshold of the return of an exciting event – the Tremblant World Cup of Alpine Skiing – Peter reminds us of the World Cup race that took place 40 years ago here, and which he witnessed. Don’t miss it, on pages 12 and 13.

Recently, when I was having a cup of coffee with Peter, I asked him what this success – and there’s no need to mince words – means to him. He then confided that he feels honoured to be able to share his stories. But what really matters for him is being able to thank his village. I think I’m right when I say what I believe Peter means by “his village”: it’s all the individuals who watched him grow and for whom he keeps a special place in his heart. It should be said that Peter knows and likes many people. So it’s really about his way, his own way, of thanking them and showing them his affection.

We don’t know how to thank you in return, Peter, for all these wonderful stories and for all the accounts still to come.
