For its first such event in Canada, the ultimate alpine ski touring and freeriding event Red Bull Raid has chosen Tremblant as its host terrain. Mountain winter sports enthusiasts in search of adventure and adrenaline have marked the date in their calendars: February 10 on the Edge slope.

Red Bull Raid is a truly unique competition. The original alpine trekking experience, generally referred to as touring, combines skill on the climb and mastery on the descent. The event certainly pay homage to Tremblant – which has 15 climbing trails and a community passionate about touring – as a destination for alpine touring.

This challenge, which puts the athletes’ versatility to the test, “will highlight the beauty and diversity of our mountain while providing an exciting platform for regional athletes,” says Annique Aird, vice-president, sales, marketing and communications for Tremblant Ski Resort.

Red Bull Raid is divided into two equally weighted sections – the climb and the descent – thus providing a chance to win up to 200 points per section. Points are attributed as a function of the speed of the climb and the style of the descent. The trick is to conserve enough energy to descend with style and daring, creating an attractive show for the spectators.

Competitors will be chosen on a first-come, first served basis. Would-be competitors can register via the event web page: redbull.ca/raid. For those who want to see the show, you can watch from the bottom of the Haute Tension run – for an unforgettable experience – and see the ceremony at which awards are presented at the end of the day.
