Jim Russell Academy becomes Tag Karting Academy

The transaction was concluded in the spring. Alexandre Tagliani — well-known Canadian race driver — and his associates have acquired the operating rights to the Mont-Tremblant karting track which was previously the Académie Jim Russell, founded in 2011.

This new offering in the world of karting will complete that of the Tag E-Karting & Amusement facility located in Sainte-Thérèse. In addition to a complete amusement centre, this latter offers rental of electric karts on an indoor multi-level track. All the expertise of Tag E-Karting will be brought to bear to provide Mont-Tremblant with a high-end outdoor karting centre for beginner- to expert-level drivers, where enjoyment will be the order of the day. Alex Tagliani and his organisation will make every effort needed to revamp and improve this Mont-Tremblant institution.

“With its racing team, the Tag E-Karting centre is pretty well unique in Canada. It lets us observe, day in day out, the general public’s interest in karting,” explains Alex Tagliani. “The addition of the Académie Tag Karting in Mont-Tremblant, on the finest outdoor circuit in Québec, for both competitions and rental, gives us the opportunity to become an important player in the world of Karting.”

Improvement of the service offering

When this article was being written, Académie Tag Karting was awaiting a fleet, from Italy, of 40 new, latest-model CRG karts destined for rental. Reconfiguration of the track is also being done. The goal is to be able to divide it in two distinct sections so as to offer, at all times, to children and beginners, a safe course, and to seasoned drivers, a competitive-level course.

The investment is considerable and will permit both recreational and competitive customers to enjoy ultramodern facilities. Among the anticipated improvements, there’ll be improvement of the line of pits, the creation of a false grid to reduce waiting time, the addition of a giant screen to follow competitors’ times, and a whole panoply of latest-word technological facilities

Add to all this a restaurant, an exhibition room for CRG karts, rental of garages and the asphalting of the parking area. A dynamometer on wheels will even be offered on a rental basis to competitors in practice mode. This new race car driving school will feature coach Pierre-Luc Ouellette, two-times world champion. Mont- Tremblant drivers Jesse Lambert and Antoine Sénéchal will also be working here.

“What could be better than a young, peak, professional driver? It’s really good to be able to offer positions to local young people in the world of karting,” Alex notes.

“I nurture the dream of hosting a World Cup of karting,” Alex confides. “Mont-Tremblant has the facilities needed and the proximity of restaurants and hotels will allow the full championship frenzy to be experienced here. It’s a competition track, but a track can’t survive on competition alone,” he emphasizes. “Karting is accessible to everyone. It’s a superb activity to enjoy as a family or with friends.”
