Trail running race in october!

Classique Salomon Tremblant

What could be better, in terms of communicating with nature, than exploring kilometres of trails on the mountain? This event is the fifth annual Classique Salomon Tremblant. It will take place on Saturday, October 20, just as the mountain wears its most beautiful autumn colours. The start is in the Place Saint-Bernard at 1000 chemin des Voyageurs, at Tremblant Resort.

“Previous events,” says Mathieu Bouffard, one of the event managers, “have attracted an ever-increasing number of participants, most of them from the Montreal, Ottawa and Gatineau areas. In 2017 we hosted 500 runners. This year we expect, including runners and their companions, close to 800 people.”

While most of the trails used for the event belong to the Ville de Mont-Tremblant and to Tremblant Resort, this activity – which is open to anyone who enjoys healthy effort – is an initiative of the Salomon Tremblant boutique. The event founder, the late Ludovic Bourricard, wanted to make foot racing a real adventure and an authentic way of life.

A running club

With the success of the event under its belt, the store proceeded to create the Salomon Tremblant running club. The some 75 members can thus, every Wednesday and Friday at noon, from mid-April to the end of October, come run the trails, supervised and advised by several experienced resource people. “Every year,” Mathieu Bouffard adds, “a running session is devoted specifically to the memory of Ludovic Bourricard.”

Safety is a priority

As we all know, no event worthy of the term can take place without its volunteers. The Classique Salomon Tremblant benefits from the support of forty or so devotees, stationed at intervals on the course to ensure that every runner has an exceptional experience. In addition, trail safety is ensured by patrollers driving quads – four-wheel-drive vehicles – from Tremblant Resort.

Fabulous trails

Besides the 1-kilometre race for children which allows each young participant to receive their own medal, the Classique Salomon Tremblant provides courses that run 3, 5, 10 and 20 kilometres in length through the magnificent surroundings of Mont Tremblant. “This year, for the Performance category,” explains Mathieu Bouffard, “we are offering participants a 30-kilometre course. It’s a unique opportunity to push the challenge to its limits while exploring our beautiful landscape!”

The prize equivalent of $5,000 in merchandise

In addition to the medals, the three men’s and women’s finalists in each race will received prizes in the form of gifts bags of merchandise. “Registration is open from June 30 until race day itself, half an hour before start time,” Mathieu Bouffard further explains. “All the runners, whether they are beginners, intermediates or even advanced, are sure to find something here that will satisfy their taste for discovery, effort and performance.”

It’s an excellent way to stay in shape while enjoying the brilliance of the fall colours.
