The fabulous world of escape games: Mission Liberté

Since 2016, Mission Liberté has invited you to immerse yourself in escape games, mere steps from Tremblant’s trails. Over the years, the challenges have evolved and have integrated various levels of technology, permitting a wide variety of missions. Families and friends seeking a weatherproof activity have the opportunity to spend time together – an hour at a time – with a shared objective.

Different phases have marked the growth of Mission Liberté, which had one game when it opened. By working all-out – even at night – founding president William Azef and his team have managed to offer six games, starting from their first summer of operation.

Most recently, William has had the pleasure of witnessing the keen interest of some of his employees in escape games. These latter have suggested putting their technical expertise and their passion into the creation and improvement of the games.

“It’s amazing to see the participation and willingness of my employees,” he confides. “One of them studies cinema and specializes in sound effects. She suggested that she take responsibility for that aspect. Another is a talented artist – painter – and has taken charge of the settings. Another wanted to create games…so I gave that person the latitude they needed to see what could be achieved, and the result is great. We are currently developing a level of expertise and team spirit that’s a real first.”

Two new games

Mission Liberté now offers seven games, two of which are new: Asile, which was available this past winter in a temporary mode, and Air Malabar 245, which opened in July. It should be mentioned that five of these games – including the two just mentioned – are the exclusive creations of Mission Liberté.

“Asile was a real success this winter, so we decided to install it in a larger space and to perfect it,” William explains. “As to Air Malabar 245, it plunges you into the story of treasure hunters who are looking into a plane crash on Mont Blanc, in the French Alps.”

Levels of difficulty

We asked William about the various levels of difficulty of the games, which are measured on a scale of 1 to 10, because none of them reaches the highest level of difficulty. His response was unequivocal.

“Some escape game centres seek to achieve a very low level of success… barely two percent. That’s not what we do at all. Our goal is for people to have fun while facing a challenge difficult enough that at the end, they are proud to have solved it together,” William explains. “We have a very high return rate. It’s not unusual to see vacationers who are here for a week come back two or three times,” he emphasizes.

Testimonials

We took advantage of our time at Mission Liberté to question the players who had just succeeded, with flying colours, in solving the series of mysteries of the Jungle (see photo).

“I really liked the technological aspect of the game and the immersive quality of the setting,” said William Leroy, experienced gamer.

“It was super. I liked it a lot. I really appreciated that there was only one padlock. I prefer having to touch the accessories rather than having to unlock a bunch of locks,” said Émilie Lussier.

“The Jungle is highly immersive, and the mechanisms and wow effects are super,” stated Élise Dosnon, who had had the opportunity to test all the Mission Liberté games except Air Malabar.
