Unsinkable passion for water sports

Pierre Plouffe’s water sports centre – Le Centre Nautique Pierre Plouffe – celebrates its 30th birthday this summer. Throughout these many years, Sylvie Mayrand and Pierre Plouffe, owners of the Lac Tremblant-based company, have been driven by the same passion they held on day one.

The secret of their longevity could just reside in the fact that their office is “the most beautiful in the region,” as Sylvie likes to say. Or perhaps it’s because Pierre Plouffe – our John Wayne of national water skiing – is still at the top of his sport and collecting world champion titles at age 74. Could the beauty of the landscape, clean air, sunshine and physical activity be the magic elixir of youth?

“We are privileged, and even though we’ve been here for 30 years, we are still filled with wonder,” Sophie confides. “We’re still here, because we believe in it. We know we can keep on providing the best of water sport. It has always been our passion.”

More than 230 watercraft – including one novel craft called the “SUP bike” (a bike mounted on a paddle board), and 16 motorized craft – make up the fleet of the Mont- Tremblant Centre nautique. What’s more, the superb team of the Centre Nautique Pierre Plouffe (CNPP) has more than 65 employees.

“We have a nucleus of loyal employees who return annually. Some of them, like Simon Busque, are in their 26th year of service,” Sylvie notes. “We have even hired the children of some of our initial employees.”

More accessible than ever

Mont-Tremblant residents who have their Accès Mont- Tremblant card obtain attractive entry fees for the Club plage et tennis – the Beach & Tennis Club – just steps from the CNPP. And as Sylvie mentions, these same residents get a 15 percent discount on watercraft rentals.

Have fun on the water!
