«Get up and move» with your children!

During the month of May, many of you will be asked by your children to get moving by doing energy cubes as part of the great movement initiated by the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie team. The initiative has taken place for 10 years in hundreds of schools in Quebec and elsewhere.

Just 15 minutes of physical activity = 1 energy cube and if you do it with family members, you get more energy cubes!

Bicycling, hiking, swimming, playing tennis, soccer, football, baseball, yoga, dancing, walking with the dog and family in the woods. The ways to get moving are infinite.

Why does your child need to move?

Because movement is inscribed in the DNA of each of their billions of cells.Because movement helps them to discover themselves, to experience their world, to build their self-esteem and to better understand their basic needs.

Why is it good for you too?

For all the same reasons, because you are a child too! Did you forget?

You are a role model because they watch you … all the time.

Dr. Fitzhugh Dodson, author of the bestselling book How to Parent, tells us that in the early stages of our lives, mostly below the age of six, we spend a large part of the time observing the people we see every day. Science tells us that if Mom and Dad are happy, active, optimistic and loving life, their child is very likely to be the same. Unfortunately, the opposite would be just as true.

Our responsibility as parents, employers, coaches, teachers…

You are not a parent, so you think this doesn’t apply to you?
More than ever, as an adult, we have a responsibility to be positive role models for the children around us.So during this month’s energy cube quest, be a positive role model for your children and everyone around you. You, yourself, will feel energized!

To your health, Jessica & Bruno.
