Wines for winding down summer
Fruitière Vinicole de Pupillin Chardonnay 2017
La Fruitière Vinicole of Pupillin, a cooperative fruit-growing group, was created in 1909 to respond to the difficult economic times of that era. Grapevines were complementary to other fruiting vegetation.
More than one hundred years later, the cooperative now devotes itself solely to growing grapevines, thus providing us with an extraordinary chardonnay.
The colour and scent of ripe lemons are a happy surprise for both eyes and nose. The wine is very fresh, full, structured and nicely woody. The mouth has flavours of citrus, white flowers and linden honey.
Delicious with potted smoked trout on croutons.

A.Christmann Pfalz Spatburgunder 2018
What a beautiful, light, shimmering appearance. Sounds like I’m referring to the fabric of a beautiful gown, but it’s the visual appearance of a Spatburgunder (German pinot noir).
In the mouth, this charming wine is delicate, and paradoxically generous and yet subdued in terms of flavours: like a mixture of berries, with silky tannins and a lovely fresh finish.
It’s worth mentioning as an aside that Germany is the third largest producer of pinot noir. Buy now for your cellar, as the price of the next vintages may well increase.

Maison les Alexandrins Crozes-Hermitage 2020
Co-owner/founder of a new adventure with the Perrin family involving twenty or so hectares, Nicolas Jaboulet has invested in the Domaine Les Alexandrins in Tain-L’Hermitage, where he makes, among other wines, his Crozes-Hermitage syrah.
In the glass, a fruity nose redolent of gooseberries and blackberries. This fruitiness continues in the mouth accompanied by notes of black olives and pepper on a background of soft tannins.
Pairs well with a burger of red lentils with mint.
