“After two pretty tough years, people certainly need to get out, have fun and laugh a bit. The first ever festival called ‘Joyeux Mont- Tremblant’ – Happy Mont-Tremblant – will be a great opportunity,” according to its president and artistic director Jean-Marie-Corbeil.

This festival of humour will take place July 29 to 30 in two locations: the public space at the corner of rue Labelle and rue de Saint-Jovite, and the Première Scène playhouse in the Lac Mercier church in the Village district.

Mario Tessier, Varda Étienne, Martin Vachon and several other comedians will be part of program meant for families. In addition to the shows featuring comedy, theatre, music and street buskers, the program includes two free evenings: the solo show featuring Mario Tessier and a gala evening that will bring together several comedians.

Three shows will take place in the Village district playhouse. French comedian Patrick Cottet Moine will host one of the evenings. Radio show Safarir, hosted by Varda Étienne, will star several surprise guests. And Jean-Marie Corbeil will break in his new show called Fouille à nu.

The Joyeuse evenings in a brewery

Starting May 18, Saint-Arnould microbrewery, on rue des Pionniers in Mont-Tremblant, will host four weekly evenings featuring Jean-Marie Corbeil who will welcome – in cabaret format – both big names and new discoveries from Quebec’s world of humour. Amateurs aged 16 and older will be invited to come and present a number.

To wind things up, let’s note that Microbrasserie Saint-Arnould, sponsor of the event, will take advantage of the occasion to launch a new blonde beer called “La Joyeuse”, a Belgian-influenced ale with 5.2 per cent alcohol and a Mont-Tremblant touch.
