When it’s time for après-ski

What could be better than enjoying refreshments in an exciting atmosphere after a day of sliding down the snowy slopes? There are a number of bars, brasseries and pubs that offer a warm welcome to skiers and boarders when the runs close. This month, we’ll tell you about two destinations that we believe are well worth your time.

Le P’tit Caribou: the après-ski legend

Is there really any need to introduce this Tremblant institution? It‘s been named the best après-ski bar in North America for 10 consecutive years by Ski Canada Magazine and classed fourth best ski bar in the world by Forbes. And that was before the P’tit Caribou began to offer a menu of wonderfully comforting foods. Chef Sam Ball and his team work tirelessly so that guests can enjoy, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., mouth-watering dishes that are completely house-made from fresh, local ingredients. In addition to a nice selection of poutines with a sauce made from veal stock, the P’tit Caribou has a special agreement with Boeuf Tremblant farm. Yes, the very farm which lovingly raises famous and delicious wagyu beef. The burgers are fantastic. And there are salads, guacamoles, nachos, chicken wings, fish and chips and a “chef’s inspiration” reflecting what’s new and fresh to round out the menu. Note, too, that the cocktails are prepared onsite with top ingredients. With this kind of offering, maybe the P’tit Caribou will be awarded the prize as the best apres-ski place in the galaxy! To be continued.

Fairmont Tremblant: European-style après-ski

If you feel like extending the pleasures of your day on the slopes in a festive atmosphere, Fairmont Tremblant’s new Après-Ski terrace has become a “must” place for meeting friends at the base of the mountain. With its “skis-on” access and a great view of the pedestrian village, this terrace, with its private dome and several outdoor fireplaces, provides a warm and welcoming ambience for outdoor gatherings. It’s an incomparable winter experience. Located on the pool deck beside Nansen Bas trail, the heated terrace – complete with entertainment – welcomes its guests in an unforgettable après-ski atmosphere. Champagne (Veuve Clicquot), bubblies, mocktails, cocktails (classics and warm ones), wines, hot drinks and beers from local brewery Saint-Arnould are all on the refreshments list.

For guests staying at the hotel, the centrepiece of the experience is the thermal circuit complete with snowflakes. The hot tub, which overlooks the ski runs, adds a touch of sophistication to the experience. These high-end facilities create a perfect background for relaxation and connection with the natural world that surrounds it.
