The 16th Festi Jazz Mont-Tremblant will offer festival-goers more than 40 free concerts from August 2 to 6. There’ll be outdoor shows on one of the three outdoor stages in the downtown area or in various Mont-Tremblant restaurants and hotels and, as every year, jazz fans will be treated to the sound of the province’s best jazz ensembles.

It should be noted that this year, Festi Jazz will move from its usual spot – traditionally at the corner of rue Charbonneau and rue de Saint-Jovite – to settle into the Espace public, located just a few dozen metres away. The format will be unchanged, with the Jazz Rencontres, Lounge, Apéro, Extra and Sous les étoiles series, respectively, at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., À 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The series Place à la relève (for upand- coming performers) will also return, at 1 p.m.

The headliners

The opening concert will feature vibraphonist Jean Vannasse on Wednesday, August 2, at 9 p.m. He will be preceded at 7 p.m. by the Ariane Racicot Trio, named the Radio-Canada 2022 revelation.

On Friday, August 4, at 9 p.m., Alain Caron will return with a new project featuring nine musicians, including a fiveperson brass section. The Festi Jazz organization promises that funk and groove will be part of the scene.

And then… a homage to Bill Evans

Exceptionally talented jazz pianist Bill Evans is known for having reharmonized jazz in the ‘50s. In the big concert on Saturday, August 5 at 9 p.m., François Bourassa, Michel Donato, Pierre Tanguay and Franck Lozano will deliver a vibrant homage to him. The Prix Michel Donato, formerly called the Prix Hommage, will be presented just before the show.

To wind the festival up on a high note, the Jentiane MG Trio will be onstage from 7 p.m., before making way for the fusion jazz group Daniel Thouin Electric Sextet at 9 p.m.
