A “must-see” event in wonderful surroundings

The Domaine Saint-Bernard will host well-known painters and sculptors at the 12th annual Symposium des artsscheduled for August 4 and 5 under the honorary presidency of animal painter Gérald Trudel.

Gathered together for the first time in one enormous tent, 35 artists from Mont-Tremblant and elsewhere in Quebec will exhibit their paintings and sculptures; artists include landscape painters Gordon Harrison and Nicole Coulombe, watercolourists Carole Gagnon and Renée Dion, and sculptors Mario Jobin and Yvan Dufour. In addition to being able to appreciate their talent and meet the artists, visitors will have the opportunity to see some of them share their creative process, live and onsite. Creative and participatory workshops provided free by the artists will also permit young and old to create art, themselves.

Visitors will be able to buy the works onsite or participate in the silent auction that will be going on all weekend. On Sunday, August 5, the names will be revealed of the persons who will leave with one or more of the pieces that the artists will have chosen to be in the auction. All weekend, the public will also be invited to vote for its favourite artist, and the “People’s Choice Award” and the “Jury Prize” will be awarded at the end of the event.

Much enjoyed and appreciated by residents of the region, this annual event – which is held in an eco-tourism park in the heart of Mont-Tremblant – also attracts a good number of visitors from Montreal and Gatineau. The event, which grows larger every year, is free other than the entry fee to Domaine Saint-Bernard: $5 for non-residents of Mont-Tremblant. Entry is free for Mont-Tremblant residents, Amis du Domaine, and youngsters aged 17 and under.
