When the Patriote theatre marks a major birthday

The season during which Le Patriote theatre celebrated its 50th birthday is drawing to a close. It provided the opportunity to see, live and onstage at the famous Ste-Agathe theatre, a constellation of famous, talented, performing artists. The program was extraordinarily rich, which no doubt explained why Le Patriote won – for the first time in its long history – the Felix award for Diffuseur de spectacles de l’année (loosely, performance distributor or disseminator of the year) at the ADISQ Gala on October 26. Our warmest congratulations to Alexandre Gélinas, general manager of the Patriote, for his hard work and his unwavering passion for theatre arts.

Ze Beatles at Le Patriote!

On Saturday, November 25, at 8 p.m., the public is invited to take a trip through time with the fabulous Beatles Story Band. Major hits, which have become classics, are delivered afresh by 16 onstage musicians. It’s a brilliant tribute show to the “Fab Four”. Of course, if it’s at Le Patriote, it can only be excellent.

And humour

Discovery of the year in 2013 at the Juste pour rire festival and recipient of the Olivier Discovery of the year at the 2014 Gala Les Olivier, comedian Simon Leblanc will present his show Tout court on Friday, December 1 at 8 p.m. Simon has performed this, his first one-man show, more than 150 times, which has allowed him to sell over 45,000 tickets. We are promised a simple show during which laughter has the starring role.

On Saturday, December 2, at 8 p.m., Fabien Cloutier takes us through Quebec society in a show entitled Assume. We know him from his outstanding roles on television (Les beaux malaises, Boomerang, Les pays d’en haut) and now he takes the stage in his own name.

Time for the magic of the Season

On Friday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m., all good elves are invited to Nicolas Noël, Les livres des enfants du monde. Nicolas Noël’s Christmas sleigh is damaged and he can’t find one of the magic books in which are listed the names of all the world’s children. Could it be that Grésille, the biggest elf in the North, is behind all this? Nicolas Noël has a big challenge on his hands: guiding an elf who has become a teen. The story, in song, shares good values with the children while providing a sense of wonder. Dance and sing in a magical atmosphere with Nicolas Noël during this must-see Holiday Season family show.

Gregory Charles presents Virtuose, the show

On Friday, December 15, at 8 p.m., Gregory Charles will take over the Patriote stage accompanied by his virtuosi. In addition to his usual musicians, Gregory Charles will direct the candidates from the 2nd season of the program Virtuose. In this show the young instrumentalists, all aged nine to 17, will perform solos under the watchful eye of their mentor, Gregory Charles, who accompanies them on the piano. Special requests – which have made the artists famous – are an integral part of the performances of these young classical music hopefuls who will, in rapid succession, face exciting challenges.

Éric Lapointe

A classic will provide the closing show of the 50th birthday celebrations. On Saturday, December 16, at 8 p.m., , Éric Lapointe will present his show Lapointe – 25 ans. Éric has performed onstage at Le Patriote several times since the beginning of his career. Each time, we’re told, it’s the same thing. “It becomes a party, the atmosphere is electric; the fans sing along to the rock star’s greatest hits and it’s another unforgettable evening.”

In December, at Mont-Tremblant

In Mont-Tremblant, Première Scène will welcome poet-musician Yann Perreau to the Village Church Playhouse on Friday, December 1 at 8 p.m. The singer-songwriter-composer will present his show Perreau et la Lune. First presented 10 years ago at the Théâtre Quat’Sous, the intimate concert won the artist the Felix for Best Staging at the ADISQ 2007 Gala as well as a nomination for Show of the Year.

On Saturday, December 9, at 8 p.m., make way for eclectic traditional music with Nicolas Pellerin et les Grands Hurleurs. With three Felix awards to their credit in the category “Traditional album of the year”, Nicolas Pellerin et les Grands Hurleurs are back with a third album and the show 3/4 Fort. The new opus takes us on a musical voyage in which tradition flirts with classical, “manouche”, electro and folk.

Lastly, Steve Provost will be providing his listeners with some old-time, foot-stomping Québec-style music on Friday, December 22. Hang onto your hat! Tickets are available on his website: steveprovost.ca.
