The Blues return to Tremblant

Three days of intense music await festival-goers on July 14, 15 and 16. The setting is, of course, Tremblant’s charming pedestrian village.

Starting at 1 p.m. every day, the concerts run successively on the stages in Place St-Bernard, Place Deslauriers and Place des Voyageurs, winding up in a club format alternating among the P’tit Caribou, Fat Mardis, the Shack, the Casino and the Village Church playhouse. There’s a concert on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Johannsen café, as well.

So Tremblant’s International Blues Festival is finally back, although in a concentrated format. The event, which used to stretch over ten days, still promises – as well as the onstage shows – the return of street blues, of the Family Zone and of spontaneous presentations in unexpected venues.

Program preview

The program includes close to thirty truly talented artists. Ontario singer-songwriter Sandra Bouza will lead off on Thursday at 1 p.m. in Place St-Bernard. Excellent guitarist Adam Karch will follow at 2 p.m. in the Place Deslauriers. Then Caleb Taylor will hit the Place des Voyageurs stage at 3 p.m.

Following him, talented singer and multi-instrumentalist Angelique Francis will have the audience swaying in Place St-Bernard at 4 p.m., preceding Jordan Officer who will keep the festival sound track going at 5:30 p.m.in the Place Deslauriers. And this pace will be sustained for three days!

The festival’s first night kicks off with the return of the great Angel Forrest, dazzling the Place St-Bernard audience starting at 8 p.m. And at 9 p.m., still in the Place St-Bernard, you won’t want to miss Tommy Castro & The Painkillers: “One of the brightest stars of the blues-soul genre,” according to Blues Music Magazine.

Let’s highlight, as well, the legends of Quebec blues who will be present: Steve Hill, Carl Tremblay, Jim Zeller, Steve Strongman, Dawn Tyler Watson, Dan Livingstone and Martin Deschamps. Enjoy the festival, folks!
