Mont-Tremblant man develops Atomic skis

Last year Marc Sauvé, freeride skier and equipment sales professional at Magasin de la Place, participated in the design of the all-new line of Atomic skis. Named Maven for women and Maverick for men, these new all-mountain skis have been specially developed to suit the full range of the terrains available on the North American continent.

The Mont-Tremblant region overflows with impassioned folks, and there’s no doubt that the most fervent are in the world of skiing. Marc Sauvé is one of these. We met with him at Magasin de la Place, the shop where he gives free rein to his expertise.

Twenty or so skiers – men and women – from east to west of the continent were invited to participate in the development of these new skis. Only four of them were present to the very end and were able to choose from among about twenty graphic designs. Marc was one of these and had the happy surprise of finding his absolute favourite: this ski is strangely reminiscent of the Laurentian forest.

“This is something Atomic does. When the company is developing new skis, it tends to call upon skiers who use its products,” Marc explains. He is also a trainer for the Sidas company which specializes in custom soles, injected and heatmouldable boots and bootfitting.

And it’s not the first time he’s been invited by the Austrian company. Sponsored for a number of years by Atomic, Marc also worked on the development of Vantage skis, which preceded the Maverick and Maven.

The Maverick and the Maven

Described as “all-terrain”, these skis were designed to attract every type of skier, whatever their style and the mountains on which they tend to ski. The Maverick and the Maven are both offered in four different widths. Their design differs by model to meet the requirements of the greatest number of people. To find out more, you’ll have to visit the store. Marc will be pleased to explain how they were designed…right down to the smallest details.
