The first Brayden Odell AVM Awareness Golf Tournament, created make people aware of the unrecognized risks of arteriovenous malformation (AVM), raised $40,000 for the Fonds Brayden Odell (fund) of the Fondation CHU Saint-Justine, which finances vascular research and awareness of AVM.

The tournament, held at the Arundel Golf Course on August 6, was organized in honour of Brayden, who died suddenly on January 27, 2021, following rupture of an arteriovenous malformation in his cerebellum.

The young boy, aged 11 at the time, was in perfect health. His family and community mobilized to avoid having this happen to someone else.

Brayden, like many others who live with this silent, often undetected, killer, had no advance warnings or symptoms. A simple MRI can identify an AVM. Once identified, AVMs respond to treatment, which can prevent cerebral lesions or cerebrovascular accidents.
