On the trail of the authors

From September 14 to 16, authors and readers will gather in the Village sector of Mont-Tremblant to share their passion for words and books. The honorary chair of the event will be none other than Alain Stanké. This prolific Québécois author has not only dedicated his life to writing in various formats – including books, documentaries, TV programs and more – but has introduced numerous authors to us through the publishing house that still bears his name.

Readers and authors together in the Village

The event, called Sur la piste des Auteur(e)s, has activities planned for everyone. Even children will be included through a words rally and treasure hunt on the shores of Lac Mercier. At the same time, their parents will enjoy coffee with an author, a documentary film-maker, a writer-composer-interpreter, an illustrator, a publicist or a novelist. All will gather in tents that will line the trail.

Word-lovers, villagers and visitors may perhaps exchange a book with a stranger on a public bench. Three intense days to enjoy and express a shared passion through workshops, book launches and presentations planned to facilitate the emergence of creativity. A mega-contest for young journalists will reveal our pathfinders of tomorrow in the print, electronic and digital media. If you recite your poem, it may just be that Marimuz will provide piano accompaniment.

You can obtain your free Sur la piste des Auteur(e)s passport at your favourite bookstore or at one of the many businesses registered on the website surlapistedesauteurs.com.

France Légaré on the trail…

This very first such cultural event, whose theme is the creative inspiration, was initiated by France Légaré – herself the author of several books set in the mountains that are among the planet’s most ancient, the Laurentians. Granddaughter of the famous Ovila Légaré, daughter of artist Louise Légaré and the late Jean-Pierre Légaré, France is herself a word-lover and may well invite us to a wordplay competition….

We should note in closing that Sur la piste des Auteur(e)s has received the support of the Ville de Mont Tremblant.

A journalist by training, Colette Chabot is the founder of radio station CIME FM.
