Rosalyne, seller of roses

Her face is familiar to us all, but not so her story. Rosalyne, the seller of roses with a thousand names, wanders like a benevolent angel through the restaurants and licensed establishments of Mont-Tremblant. With her smile and her basket of roses, Lyne Girouard has for twenty years pursued her mission of spreading love, kindness and healing, one rose at a time.

A natural therapist and Reiki master, Lyne started to distribute roses in the restaurants and bistros of Mont-Tremblant in 1999. She gradually left her private practice of naturopathy to devote herself to her mission full-time. “My clientele is on my road, through my roses,” she realised.

The occupation certainly demands patience and devotion, particularly when the weather is cold. During the week, Lyne orders her roses and prepares them with care.

Then on weekend evenings – or every night during high season – she spends eight hours wandering the three hubs of Mont-Tremblant: downtown, the Village sector, and the mountain resort.

Some of her colleagues with a similar mission work in Saint-Sauveur, Joliette, Saint-Jérôme and Quebec City.

“I love people. What gives me the most pleasure is the staff. Every time I enter a restaurant, they all acknowledge me. They are all nice,” Lyne confides.

In wending her way along the same path month after month, year after year, she notes that the restaurants and bars are less busy during the week than they were in the 2000s.

Cash money is also much rarer, so Rosalyne now accepts credit cards. Her clientele is very diverse. She sees everything, for example, one client bought flowers for the whole staff team of a restaurant.

Next time you see Rosalyne, offer her a smile, a “good evening”, a simple “thanks”. Or perhaps give in to the magical charm of her roses….
