The Trek Under the Stars

Ski or walk for a good cause

The Trek Under the Stars, organized by the Palliacco organization, will take place on January 25 at the Domaine Saint-Bernard, in Mont-Tremblant, and on February 1 at the Camping et centre de plein air in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, from 5 p .m. to 9 p.m.

The two Treks, the major events in Palliacco’s annual fundraising campaign has set a $100,000 goal for the two events.

Again this year, participants can choose to trek on cross-country skis or snowshoes, or simply in their walking boots, on the torch-lit trails. Their objective: to allow Palliacco to continue to provide support, free of charge, to those battling cancer, at the end of their lives, to their caregivers and to those who are grieving a loss.

Two courses are available: seven kilometres of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or walking, and a more modest course of two kilometres walking. The courses features rest stops where consommé and hot wine will be served. The adventure winds up with a generous wine and cheese reception provided by local businesses.

The mission of each ten-member team is to raise at least $1000, or $100 per team member. Solo participants may join a team already being formed, or join La Camaraderie, the Palliacco team.

This year, Palliacco has decided to turn over half the profits from the Trek Under the Stars to the Fondation La Traversée to help in its project to create a palliative care facility in Mont-Tremblant

Those who prefer can just donate directly or contribute by offering a few hours as a volunteer. Palliacco provides tax receipts. Registrations and donations can be made online at palliacco.org or simply by contacting Palliacco at 819 717-9646 or 1 855 717-9646.
