Whoever said that prestige, energy efficiency and ecology could not be fundamental to a luxury real estate project?

A unique concept between heaven and earth

With 485 acres of land located close to the P’tit Train du Nord linear park and just 10 minutes from Tremblant, the community project Énergie Zéro Lac en Ciel takes its name – “Lac en Ciel”, meaning “Lake in the Sky” – from the lake, which is located high between two mountains.

While the project as a whole anticipates having, when completed, 24 traditional residences in addition to 18 net-zero-energy homes built on the lakeshore, a restaurant, boutique hotel, garden and orchard, as well as a clubhouse with a fitness space and full spa centre, other facilities and aspects make this project a first on the North American continent.

“We want to introduce a whole new way of seeing housing, as much in terms of architecture and the clean energy used as by the proposed developments,” said Matthew Shear, the project promoter, reached by telephone in Florida.

“Our intent,” Mr. Shear continued, “is also to integrate the buildings into the surrounding nature as much as possible by using design architecture and huge windows.”

From farm to table

The unique nature of the concept also includes a 15-acre farm on the site. Fruits and many kinds of vegetables will be produced and will supply the restaurant, whose chef will be from Montreal.

“The Lac en Ciel owners,” Mr. Shear makes clear, “will be able to come and pick fruit and vegetables free of charge. What’s more, a market will be established in the restaurant. A member’s card provided at the purchase of each lot will allow the owners access to the recreational services provided by the club, including a gym, cycling, kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing and more.”

Solar energy that has a yield

The official sales launch will be on August 17, 18 and 19 at Mont-Tremblant’s Quintessence hotel. Buyers will be able to acquire a traditional home or one hooked up to the site’s integrated solar energy system, positioned on a mountainside. The goal is to generate enough energy for annual electrical requirements. There will be neither solar panels on the roofs nor bulky batteries to store. In collaboration with the Hydro-Québec program called Mesurage net, each owner will use the energy they need and receive credit for any surplus produced. Four model units are currently under construction.

From design to delivery, the project will use Quebec companies such as Dalco Entrepreneur Général and Rematek Énergie Inc. Consultants, urban planners, architects…but also gardeners and various other professionals will be included in the mix.

A sweet and peaceful life for future residents

Waking up in the morning and going with the family to pick your own food. Heading down to the lake and enjoying the recreational services free of charge. Walking to the restaurant just steps away, as well as never paying an electrical bill…. A dream life, wouldn’t you say? Lac en Ciel promises to make it a reality.
