Recruiting staff is the greatest challenge for Mont-Tremblant businesses, and the problem is increased by the lack of affordable housing. Several businesses have decided to take action to lodge employees.

Sepaq, the largest outdoor network in Quebec

At Mont-Tremblant National Park, summer employees have the opportunity to camp onsite in a tent or a motorized vehicle. This option takes them closer to work and nature, as well as reducing their transportation costs. The employees are also offered discounts on the rental of other campsites when they invite their friends and relatives to the national park.

Northland

This winter, the shareholders of the landscaping company Northland acquired and renovated a building to lodge the seven Salvadorean migrant workers who will arrive in May. The singlefamily dwelling is located in downtown Mont- Tremblant, which will facilitate the newcomers’ movement and their social life. According to coowner Geneviève Payette, the Northland team is enthusiastic about welcoming its new colleagues and is preparing by taking Spanish courses.

Le Nomade

This rooming house located in Lac-Supérieur is changing its vocation to better support workers. Dropping its short-term rentals, Le Nomade will henceforth offer long-term rentals of a month or more. The furnished studios are perfect for seasonal workers living alone who have a car. According to owner Chelsea McLean, the flexible cancellation policy reduces the stress on individuals starting a new job in a new region.

Station Mont Tremblant (resort)

The region’s biggest employer, Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort, has established an accommodation program for team members which sets aside a limited number of rooms in residences or condos. The resort is delighted to have the support of Alterra Mountain Company with regard to lodging for employees, but is not at liberty to reveal details of this program or about future investments.
