Mont-Tremblant will again host the famous Spartan Race obstacle course. The event will be held on June 17, 18 and 19 on Tremblant’s North Side and will offer – in addition to a race for kids – four courses of varying distances.

The endurance and brute strength sport, which is a worldwide phenomenon, has experienced explosive growth in the past decade. Its return after a two-year absence is thrilling fans of this type of challenge around the world.

Fun for all?

The Spartan competition has a choice of four challenges to take on, and is open to the public. The most accessible of the challenges are the Sprint and the Super which offer, respectively, 5 km with 20 obstacles, and 10 km with 25 obstacles.

It gets tougher with the Beast, which takes the competitor over a 21-km course with 30 obstacles. And then there’s the Ultra, which offers a healthy stroll on the mountain for 50 km during the course on which there are 60 obstacles.

As usual, the obstacles devised by the organizers are kept secret right up to the start of the event. Running along a mountainside, carrying weights over medium distances, rockclimbing, climbing and crawling in the mud under barbed wire are, however, to be expected. You’re either a Spartan or you’re not.

The event for kids offers 1-, 1.5-, and 3-km distances on June 18 and 19. The number of participants is unknown at the time of writing, but a large number of participants are expected on the North Side that weekend.
