Le P’tit Caribou celebrates 25 years

La terrasse du P'tit Caribou en formule après-ski

The bistro-bar Le P’tit Caribou is celebrating its 25th birthday. The iconic bar in the heart of Tremblant’s pedestrian village has carved out a special place for itself at home and abroad. After several updates over the years, the place has changed, but has never lost its popularity.

The P’tit Caribou opened in 1993 and since that time, many locals, seasonal residents and tourists have walked its floors. Those who knew it in its early days remember the wood-fired-stove pizzas that were served in the old chalet dating back to the days of Joe Ryan. It was the coziest, most intimate atmosphere imaginable…a 500-sq. ft. place where customers had a habit of throwing their peanut shells on the floor.

Popular initially with the mountain’s employees, the bistro-bar quickly became a general après-ski favourite. It has been cited and praised by numerous magazines, including the famous Forbesmagazine which named it the fourth-best après-ski bar in the world! It is also well known for its wild evenings when partyers danced happily on the bars. In fact, they still do, in this establishment which now boasts close to 5,000 sq. ft. on two floors.

For après-ski, wild evenings and group events

After acquiring the establishment, which they knew well because they had worked in it for years, Joshua Wilson, Sébastien Turgeon and Tyler Lane completely transformed it in 2016. Their objective was to establish an older, daytime clientele, and to develop the corporate market. “We didn’t want to lose the local customers, though,” Joshua explains.

Careful to retain the bar’s rustic atmosphere, the trio also managed to expand the space by moving to an open concept, increasing the windows, and adding an enormous outdoor bar and welcoming deck.

Thanks to a menu of dishes made from high-quality local ingredients – including an incredible range of nachos – plus a cocktail menu featuring refined drinks, as well as the lounge space that allows it to hold private events, the P’tit Caribou team managed to diversify its clientele. As for the no-holds-barred atmosphere you’ll find there in the evenings, well, it’s maintained by great music mixed by experienced DJs, sound and light systems at the cutting edge of technology, and live shows.

The dynamic owners appear to have made it work, because Le P’tit Caribou has become as popular in summer as it is in winter and attracts a clientele aged from 21 to 70. According to Joshua, the secret to its success is the atmosphere, not to mention the high quality of the services and the experience. “My goal is to have people leave exclaiming that they’ve never had such a great time,” he concludes.

Le P’tit Caribou will celebrate its 25th on November 30 with a live show and gifts for the first 150 people to show up. After the VIP “5 à 9”, the evening will be open to all.
