Agricultural adventure

Agriculture is an essential activity. We are fortunate to be surrounded by farmers and producers who have taken on the job of feeding us in a healthy manner with full respect for the environment. Let’s meet some of them….

La Cabane à Tuque

A VEGETARIAN SUGAR SHACK CLOSE TO HOME!
It is an authentic, convivial experience. Simon Meloche, an experienced organic grower, welcomes us to his Mont-Tremblant family cabin, built with spirit and warmth to welcome young and old attracted by the notion of an intimate, informal experience.

AT THE DINNER TABLE, A WAY OF LIFE IS SHARED
Here, what you are served is of the utmost importance. All the products come from the owner’s vegetable garden/farm or from local organic producers. The maple sap is harvested by the pail and the syrup created craftsman-style – or what the owner, with a smile, calls “sports-style”.

DENSELY FLAVOURFUL AND NUTRITIONAL
Everything is homemade and each dish has its own personality: Italian vegetarian cretons (absolutely delicious); millet pie served with Kimchi (my favourite discovery); autumn squares (divine, dipped in maple syrup); chaga tea; and more…. To complete the feast, maple taffy and a fun-filled exercise of skills, a walk in the maple woods and board games.

SUSTAINABLE CREATIVITY
The warm decor and choice of materials demonstrate the inventiveness and values of the host. The sunny, inviting dining room with its walls made of recycled bottles allows guests to see what’s going on behind the cooking pots. Don’t hesitate to chat with the sous-chef, David Grenier Yergeau, owner of the market garden farm Station Jardin, who is delighted to answer questions. All the employees, in fact, are farmers.

A tip of the hat to the people behind this original project. It took courage to make a dream based on values, sharing and a way of life into a reality. Quite the challenge.
