Theatre at its best in Mont-Tremblant

Lovers of French-language theatre will be happy this month. The Mont-Tremblant theatre group Théâtrez-Vous presents the work Pâté de campagne in the Village church playhouse on June 9, 10 and 17 at 7 p.m., and on June 18 at 2 p.m.

The recipient of numerous awards and nominations from the Fédération québécoise du théâtre amateur, the Théâtrez-Vous troup has given itself quite a challenge in deciding to present this situation comedy written by Josée Fortier (La Petite Vie) and François Camirand.

“Five talented actors interpret 14 characters. It takes actors who can work fast, as it really moves,” says Louise Bourque, president of Théâtrez-Vous.

“It moves, it really moves,” actor Marko Bolduc emphasizes. He shares the stage with Marie-Claude Samuel, Colette Desroches Lachaine, Tony Juarez and Sylvain Piché. “It’s practically vaudeville,” Marko explains. “A large-scale comedy in which jokes fly thick and fast. A play that moves a lot with super-fast costume changes.”

This rollicking comedy, whose direction and theatre design were done by Louise Bourque and Michel Cyr respectively, tells the story of a couple of inn-keepers who feverishly await the surprise visit of an inn critic. The couple have to work with staff who are only moderately competent and with colourful, diverse guests.

“I am highly satisfied with the result,” Marko confides. “We have an excellent script and we control it well. All the actors are talented and very funny, which is fantastic and really good to have. Besides, not laughing at the interplay of our theatre teammates would be quite a feat,” he concludes.
