Pick a peak

Fresh, crisp autumn air. Warm sun on your face. The earthy aroma of damp moss, mushrooms, and needle-covered paths. A mountain range painted by Mother Nature in every hue of yellow, orange and flame red.

Few things are more beautiful, or awaken the senses more, than exploring our Laurentian Mountain trails as the leaves are changing and fall is in full swing.

A fall adventure

There are almost endless trails to explore in the Mont-Tremblant region. You can pick a peak that fits your fitness level (or one that challenges it).

Whether you’re young or old, an expert or an amateur, there’s a mountain trail that will be perfect for you to explore, and from it to observe the glorious colours of fall.

The scenic route

Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.

This season, I chose Montagne Vert for my annual leaf-peeping adventure. A rocky massif on the south side of Lake Tremblant, the “green mountain” offers several breathtaking viewpoints of the lake and of Mont Tremblant itself.

Considered a moderate to extreme trail, the hike is a bit rough, but doable. Some rock scrambling is required to make your way to the very top. I have found, though, that the more obstacles, the more spectacular the view.

It is a bit off the beaten path, and not set up as “tourist” site – which makes it all the more appealing to me. Roundtrip, it’s about a 5.5-kilometre loop.

The climb did not disappoint. A 360-degree, awe-inspiring view of our region awaits you at the top. As far as the eye can see, nature is painted in the bright, breathtaking, palette of autumn.

Tie on your hiking shoes. Grab a jacket and a bottle of water. Which peak will you pick to go leaf-peeping this season?
