News from the Greater Mont-Tremblant Chamber of Commerce

By France Paré,

We would like, first, to thank David and Guillaume for offering us the opportunity to write for this excellent monthly newspaper/magazine, Tremblant Express.

The Chambre de commerce du Grand Mont-Tremblant (CCGMT) has always practised “think big “. Convinced that there’s strength in unity, we finally obtained a district change permission from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, which allowed us to take in the municipality of Lac-Supérieur as part of our territory. Now the Chambre’s district includes Mont-Tremblant, Saint-Faustin-Lac-Carré, Brébeuf and Lac-Supérieur.

To motivate and run the Chambre and fulfill its various missions, it takes a team full of energy and ideas, and always there for its members.

Following the departure of executive director Isabelle Plouffe (after five years of good and faithful service), her assistant Annie Gosselin agreed to continue the actions undertaken by the Chambre. Quite the challenge! She is supported by Sylvie Aubry (formerly clerk-accountant) who has been appointed administrative assistant and coordinator of member services, as well as by Suzanne Tardif, who has joined the team as accounting technician.

These sparkling individuals will welcome you from Monday to Friday at 205 rue Lacasse in Mont-Tremblant.

But actually, you may ask, what is the mission of the Chambre de commerce de Mont-Tremblant?

For the past several years, the Chambre’s mission has been to invest in education to help its businesspeople strengthen the knowledge and skills of their employees and thus ensure the durability of local businesses.

That being said, we are proud to confirm that the PACE program (for the acquisition of business skills) in Reception and the Hotel business has been renewed for a second year. This training and education program allows workers to acquire a DEP – diploma in vocational studies – while alternating work (65 percent) and studies (35 percent) throughout the school year.

In addition, we are pleased to announce that the PACE Cuisine program, for the acquisition of kitchen skills and knowledge, has been approved and that a first cohort of students working towards a DEP Cuisine will also begin in September or October. Each session will take in fifteen students per class.

We hope that you will be among the happy employers who benefit from this subsidized program, which allows your team to develop their skills through new learning methods.
