Big local brewing event

The Festival Brassicole des Laurentides (Laurentians Brewing Festival) will give beer lovers the opportunity to sample delicious beers from the Québec terroir on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1. The event will be located in the Gare de Saint-Faustin-Lac-Carré park by the old railway station, and the Vilain Pingouin will be playing. Mark your calendar!

This third event will offer the same much-loved formula as in past years. There’ll be sampling of beers from local microbreweries, gourmet treats from this terroir, booths featuring local crafts, entertainment for the whole family and special beer workshops.

Music!

Shows will be presented all day and evening throughout the event. The groups Les Flancsmous and Opium will be playing on Friday, June 30. The return of cult favourite Vilains Pingouin, on Saturday, July 1, will be a huge hit. In other words, lots brewing!

The festival beer

Again this year, the event will be sponsored by Mont-Tremblant microbrewery Saint-Arnould, which has designed a beer for the festival. This latter, named La Repousse, is citrus-scented and will allow its imbibers to quench their thirst – ahem – tastefully.

“There are more and more beer-lovers in Québec and the Festival Brassicole des Laurentides is the perfect opportunity to discover the new trends in the world of beer, meet the brewers and taste their products in a festive, country-themed atmosphere,” said Sylvain Robitaille, owner of Saint-Arnould microbrewery, at a press briefing.

Microbreweries

There will also be a dozen or so Québec microbreweries taking part so that festival-goers can discover their products and share their passion. Among the brewers: the Brasserie les 2 frères, the Baril Roulant, Transcaisse, the Trèfle noir, the Brasseurs de Montebello, the microbrasserie du Lièvre, the Brasseurs du Nord and Le Grimoire.

Feasting

There will, of course, be a number of food stands where attendees can fill up on good grub. The food trucks of caterers Paella Géante and Seb l’Artisan will be there, as will stands representing Monster BBQ, SOS Fondue, Aliments Juventis and Ça Roule ma Poule.

Sampling passport

Passports valid for the two days of the festival will be available at the site entrance for $10. Festival-goers who purchase their passports before June 30 will be entitled to a free sample at the Pub du Festival. Points of sale for passports: Mont Blanc, Saint-Faustin-Lac-Carré’s town hall, Marché Bonichoix Lac-Carré, Maison des Brasseurs and on the event website. Enjoy your sampling!
