More and more women are affected by symptoms related to peri- and pre-menopause and menopause. And what some experts * in the field are saying is that these symptoms are also occurring in younger and younger women.

When hot flashes; weight gain; fluctuations in libido, mood and energy; headaches; and genital discomfort arise in a woman’s life, most of the time the information given to her is that ”this is normal at your age”! What Dr. Christiane Northrup MD and Women’s Health Specialist tells us is ”no, it’s not ‘normal’ ”, and that there are many ways to optimize hormonal health to significantly reduce the discomfort that so many women suffer nowadays and at an increasingly early age.

Here are some of the tips that Dr. Northrup advocates and recommends for women as a comprehensive approach to gain control of their hormonal health rather than falling victim to it.

  • Sleep: sleep between eight and nine hours per night in an aired, cool room, in darkness and calm and WITHOUT technology.
  • Two hours before bedtime: avoid technology and eating, calm down by listening to soft music, reading an uplifting book or taking a relaxing walk.
  • On your plate: prioritize good fats, varied and fresh vegetables. Avoid processed and non-organic foods. Take a nutritional supplement tailored to your specific needs.
  • Move: yes, move, and regularly, but never intensely.
  • Your environment: eliminate sources of toxins.
  • Your relationships and your emotions: it’s okay and essential to say NO, set aside time each day to relax and enjoy ‘’me time’’ or with positive and inspiring people.
