From February 13 to 15, Tremblant will host the first Québec Air Nation event, presented by the Association Québec Snowboard and Canada Snowboard. This is a golden opportunity to watch the best Canadian and international slopestyle athletes at work competing for the title of Air Nation Freestyle Tour champion.


Mont-Tremblant is the third stop after Sun Peaks (from January 22 to 24) and Mount St-Louis Moonstone (from February 8 to 10). On Wednesday, February 14 and Thursday, February 15, the qualifications will start at 10:45 a.m. and the finals at 2 p.m.; the medals ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m.


Slopestyle is a style discipline that consists of crossing, one after another, obstacles and terrain park features that make up a course. The performances are judged according to specific criteria such as amplitude, the difficulty of the trick, execution and variety. The better of the two runs will be retained as the final result.


Snowboard competition has two main categories, speed and style. The speed events are comprised of individuals races such as giant slalom (long turns) and slalom (short turns). Several athletes participate simultaneously in snowboard cross (four at a time), parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom (two at a

time). The style competitions include Big Air, slopestyle and halfpipe.


Four of these disciplines are already included in the Olympic Games: snowboard cross, parallel giant slalom, slopestyle and halfpipe. Big Air will be included in the Olympic Games for the first time this year.
